The results of the present analysis suggest that enteric-coated aspirin is comparable to uncoated aspirin in terms of efficacy and safety. This suggests that enteric coating of aspirin has no significant effect on efficacy or safety in the secondary prevention of cardiovascular events. In the future, patients would be able to choose their preferred aspirin formulation themselves.

Further research is needed to clarify the long-term effects of different aspirin formulations and dosages and to develop optimal, patient-specific recommendations.
